This is a timely question, given that a conference is being hosted this very day on this very topic by The American University Center for Behavioural Neuroscience. Posing catchy questions such as “Do we tempt fate by tempting fat?” this gathering of doctors and academics is considering the substantial (and expanding!) science in this area. In short, obesity is bad for the heart and for the formation of good habits and nutrition, all of which over time can lead to problems of cognition and to an unhealthy brain. We are what we eat.
